4 Ways to Prevent Divorce

Everybody knows that divorce is ugly. On the other hand, honest attempts to save your marriage are much sweeter. Anyway, you did vow that you would stay with your spouse “until death do you part.”

A relationship that is turning sour can be intensely painful. How can you work toward saving your marriage when you are in emotional turmoil?

1. Love Yourself!

Does this surprise you? You might have expected the words, “Love your partner.” Loving your partner is important, but loving yourself is more important. This may sound impossible; but your spouse’s lack of love for you might actually be a reflection of your lack of love for yourself.

Therefore, love yourself! Have you put on weight recently? Then go to the gym and get slim; or go on a vacation and enjoy yourself. Take some time to have fun with friends. Such activities can greatly boost your self-esteem and your love for yourself.

2. Fall in Love with Your Spouse Again

If you really love yourself, you will find it easier to fall in love with your spouse. Do you remember the initial days of your relationship? How did you behave then? Didn’t you go on dates, spend romantic moments, write love notes to each other, listen to each other, and look good for each other, and so on and so forth? Repeat the same experience!

Listen to your spouse!

If your spouse wants to rant, let him or her! Discuss your relationship with an open heart and a peaceful mind. Understand each other. Try to find out what is missing in the relationship or what has gone wrong with it. Discuss ways and methods to correct it.

Spice up your relationship!

You can easily find out hundreds of ways to spice up your relationship. If you are at a loss, ask your friends, read books and magazines, or browse the Internet for fresh ideas.

Write passionate love letters to your spouse and leave it somewhere for him or her to find. Give an unexpected call to your spouse. Cook something delicious and have a candle lit dinner with soft music in the background.

Go on a date!

Go on a date with your spouse just as you used to during those first dating days. Dress up for the occasion. Take special care about your appearance because this shows that you care for your spouse. Forget your cares and worries and really enjoy the date.

3. Give Lots of Time to Each Other

Yes, your job is important. But isn’t your relationship just as important? Couples tend to neglect each other or take each other for granted after the initial days of marriage. If you have been making this mistake, now is the time to rectify it.

Come home early and go out for a short walk with your spouse. Spend some time to reconnect with and to rediscover your spouse.

4. Take Professional Help

If you are facing deep marital problems, you had better find a good therapist to help you out. Alternatively, you can also take the help of one of the myriad organizations that offer relationship help.

Talk to wise friends and relatives who have your best interests at heart. Don’t hesitate to approach others to help you save your marriage.

Your marriage is your greatest asset; so cherish it. Consider your marriage as a precious jewel that must be saved at any cost. A break up or a divorce can shatter you physically, emotionally, and financially. Moreover, it could hurt your children deeply. Putting in every effort to save your marriage is very important.
